Before we went to the airport I wanted a Chicken in a Barrel T-shirt. Kameron just about had a coronary because I took a minute to talk to the owner and our flight was leaving in an hour. What can I say? It was good BBQ!
Yup, flight home was a little bumpy and I still feel like I'm floating. Had a little difficulty picking up the car because it didn't start right away, but we're home safe. Overall awesome trip!

Sunday Snorkel Day

Before we went to our condo for the evening, Kameron signed us up for a Snorkeling Adventure, on the Na Pali coast.  It launched at about 0730 in Port Allen, about 25 miles from where we were staying.  I figured a couple Dramamine, and I should be fine...

On the way out...

The coast offered up some beautiful scenery of Waimea Canyon, and the huge cliffs on this side of the island. The cliffs average height at about 3000 ft.

Fiinally feeling relaxed.

Well I was feeling fine but...Klew was starting to feel a little motion sickness.  I told the closest Deck Hand, and he got her a cup of ice, cold towel for the back of her neck, and the infamous Aloha bucket.

Kale found a good spot for a nap, 

while Klew clinched the Aloha bucket for a second time. I told her Teddy Grahams were to blame.

Final count: 4 Dramamine (1 for Klew), 2 Ginger Ales, and 3 Beers. 

At least we now know that Klew and I, not only share the same appetite, but also both get sick on boats.  When we got back to the condo, I went straight to naptime, and yes, I still feel like I'm moving, 8 hours later.

Saturday Sightseeing

Went for a short ride to Opaeka'a Falls. Just had to see a waterfall while we were in Kauai.

As you can tell, the kids aren't that into sightseeing, so off to Lydgate Park we go, complete with smaller manmade "tide pools"  for the kids to play in.

 

After we worked up an appetite playing in the water, we had delicious lunch at Verde, local Mexican joint, with super fresh seared Ahi tacos, overall good eating, and ended the afternoon with more pool time...

Lava Flow Friday

We just had a super lazy day around the condo, and walked to a couple of stores.  Checked out Foodland, and the ABC Store (twice) for a couple souvenirs, got more groceries and more pool time.  I couldn't find many pictures but I found a bar tab with a Mai Tai, 2 Lava Flows, a Longboard Lager, and a Big Swell IPA, so that makes more sense now.  

Soooo, we:

walked to a few stores

went to the pool

had some drinks

made some pasta and meat sauce in the Condo

went night night...

Adventure Pants Thursday

Started out the morning going to an ATV adventure. Drove around in these 4wd ATVs in the mud, steep hills, through puddles and dodging ruts. 

Klew jumped in the river in the exact spot where Harrison Ford did in the classic 1981 Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark!

After the ATV Adventure we went back to the room, rested a little and did more pool and beach time

And the search for the perfect coral and shells...

Wednesday: Swimming in the bay

Just exploring around and ended up in Kilauea. Parked the Jeep, and walked to the Kilauea Lighthouse, part of the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. Beautiful scenery and some cool history. After, ran into some Encinitas parents with their children and enjoyed the wet weather, swimming in the bay at Hanalei Pier.

And the kids are Hawaii ready at 5am. Not used to Hawaii time yet.

More Day One Stuff

Checked in to our awesome condo at Waipouli Beach Resort, went and got some groceries at the grocery store across the street, and did some swimming at the pool while mommy and daddy enjoyed some Happy Hour drinks.

other than that just a lot of downtime to get used to our home, and timezone, for the week!
